Большинство пациентов с СН  имеют высокий индекс коморбидности. К одной из значимых и обсуждаемых позиций среди факторов риска и  заболеваний, вносящих весомый вклад в развитие СН,  относится сахарный диабет (СД). Существуют мнения о  важной роли СД в развитии сердечно-сосудистого ремоделирования при СН независимо от ее фенотипа, но  есть и альтернативные точки зрения, отрицающие самостоятельную роль СД как фактора риска СН.  Ингибиторы натрий-зависимых переносчиков глюкозы 2 типа, изначально позиционировавшиеся как средства  контроля гликемии, продемонстрировали  кардиопротективные эффекты и снижение риска развития СН у пациентов с СД и улучшения прогноза ее течения  независимо от наличия или отсутствия СД 2 типа. </p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p> Heart failure (HF) is still an urgent problem of the modern society due to constant growth of the both its spread rate and its influence on the disease and death rates. Most patients having HF have a high comorbidity index. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is considered to be one of the most significant and discussed risk factors and diseases influencing the development of HF. There are different opinions on the important role of DM in the development of cardiovascular remodeling in case of HF regardless its phenotype, but there are alternative points of view which refuse the independent role of DM as a  risk factor of HF. Inhibitors of type 2 glucose sodium-dependent cotransporters were originally positioned as a means to control glycaemia.
