The role of endothelial dysfunctions in progressing of the metabolic syndrome from risk factors to vascular disease

Abstract

The condition of vascular endothelium, its relaxing and constrictor reserves, inflammation markers and adipokines at 238 men with a metabolic syndrome and various forms of ischemic heart disease is investigated. The level of the nitrogen oxide metabolites, endothelin-1, C-reactive protein of blood, and also a condition of cytokine system on a level of IL 6, 10 and the factor of tumor necrosis and also adipokines - leptin and adiponectin was estimated. Changes of function in vascular endothelium which is shown by decrease in the level of the nitrogen oxide metabolites at a metabolic syndrome and increase of concentration of endothelin-1 at ischemic heart disease is established. C-reactive protein is raised already at a metabolic syndrome and even more grows at myocardial infarction. Dynamics in cytokines at myocardial infarction is characterized by decrease in the level of the tumor necrosis factor and IL10 and increase of the IL6. Concentration of leptin is raised at metabolic syndrome and at its combination to myocardial infarction whereas the level of adiponectin is reduced at adiponectin irrespective of presence of a metabolic syndrome.
