PREVENTIVE MEDICAL EXAMINATION OF HIV-POSITIVE PATIENTS IN PRIVOLZHSKY FEDERAL DISTRICT

Abstract

Epidemic of HIV infection in Privolzhsky federal district is instantiated by a growth of total number of HIV-positive people, involvement of rural areas, and increase in the share of patients with late stages of disease. The paper analyses the work performed by AIDS regional centres in the federal district to carry out preventive medical examination of HIV-positive patients in 2008. The authors have evaluated dynamics in distribution of HIV-positive patients by stages of disease, disclosed the most frequent secondary and associated diseases, described the deceased patients in accordance with clinical stages of disease, and analysed how HIV-positive patients of various age groups were being covered by laboratory examination, antiretroviral therapy and hospital treatment.
