Development of the ophthalmologic help to the population of the Sakhalin area

Abstract

The historical material devoted to start and development of ophthalmologic service of the Sakhalin area. Stages of development from the first ophthalmologic beds in the Yuzhno‑Sakhalinsk city hospital (1957) up to now are shown. Today the ophthalmologic microsurgical center works on the basis of regional hospital where the modern operative interventions are provided, and preventive, educational and scientific work is conducted.
