Surgical treatment of glomus tumor of the middle ear

Abstract

The observation of the glomus tumor of the middle ear of woman aged 62 years old is presented. The tumor of the size up to 15 mm was localized in middle-ear cleft. It caused mixed hearing loss of the second degree. Clinic managed to remove tumor as a single block and recover the wholeness of anatomical structures. The operation was conducted under total intravenous anesthesia and artificial pulmonary ventilation. In a year after surgical intervention audiological research showed sensorineural hearing loss of the minimal level.
