Каротиноиды в практической медицине

Аннотация

В обзоре приводятся данные о применении каротиноидов при наиболее угрожающих патологических состояниях. Лечебно-профилактическое действие каротиноидов обусловлено инактивацией активных форм кислорода и свободных радикалов. Устраняя явления и последствия окислительного стресса, каротиноиды эффективны как в коррекции метаболических нарушений сахарного диабета и абдоминального ожирения, так и в снижении риска сердечно-сосудистых заболеваний. Обогащенные каротиноидами диеты проявляют широкий спектр противораковых эффектов, модуляций апоптоза и блокад метастазирования. Каротиноиды защищают от окислительных повреждений дофаминэргические нейроны головного мозга и снижают выраженность нейродегенеративных расстройств, болезней Альцгеймера и Паркинсона. Однако каротиноиды имеют ограниченную биодоступность из-за своей низкой водорастворимости. Будущие исследования должны быть направлены на разработку свободных от этого недостатка лекарственных форм каротинсодержащих фитопрепаратов.
